My name is Joshua Parton, owner of Featherstone Pest Control. I offer practical, reliable pest control services for farms, vineyards, lifestyle blocks, and rural properties usually around Hawke’s Bay but can provide NZ wide depending on how big the Job is. I can help with the control of pests such as Rabbits, Hares, deer, goats, pigs, geese, and more.

I’ve grown up hunting and I’ve been shooting since the age of five. Over the years I’ve gained a lot of experience with rabbit control, safe shooting, and working around rural land. I understand how quickly these pests can damage pasture, crops, young vines/trees and surrounding land if they are not kept under control.

For rabbit control, I use a .22 air rifle and a Ruger 10/22 rimfire fitted with a thermal optic. My preferred time for rabbit culling is at night, as this is when rabbits are usually most active and I generally get the best results. Thermal equipment allows me to locate rabbits more effectively in low-light conditions while still taking a careful and controlled approach.

I also have thermal optics fitted on bigger calibers for culling larger game animals like deer and pigs at night if needed.

All work is carried out with care and respect for the landowner, stock, neighbours, buildings, fences, crops, and machinery. Before any shooting takes place, I like to understand the property boundaries, access points, and any areas that need to be avoided.

Pricing

My rate is $65 per hour, plus ammunition costs (For Indication 22lr is 35c per round)

There is no extra fuel charge unless the travel time to the culling location is more than one hour from Taradale. For jobs further away, travel costs can be discussed before booking.
